Ana Sumani was the Ghanian woman being treated for cancer in the UK. Doctors advised the government that if she was sent back to Ghana she would die. There were appeals for her to remain in the UK, but she was evicted in January after her visa expired.
I'm not in favour of the UK being a soft option for every immigrant who wished to come here, but I think that in this case we should have treated her more as a fellow human being than as a mere statistic. The British government knowingly sent her to her death, while they permit other less needy to people to remain here.
