I always thought there was more to this case than had so far appeared.

Let's just hope that little girl and all her siblings get the protection and care any child deserves, in a safe environment.

more fodder for the tabloids that get the story all skewered in the first place and now have something else to get all hyper about.

This whole case is odd: the fact the girl and her uncle were both hiding in drawers when found suggests a whole new angle.

Although a child her age couldn't make a decision on her own and legally the bloke committed a crime-there is something we are missing about this case.

So many reasons not to jump to conclusions in the first instance.

I was amazed to see him described as a fishmonger - I didn't think ANYONE on that estate worked !

My humble theory on the Shannon case is thus ...

I believe she asked her step-father's uncle to hide her following some troubles at home. This man, in his attempt to help the child, was committing an offence by not reporting her whereabouts, maybe because she'd asked him not to for fear she'd be sent back home. His intentions may have been good, even if his judgement was questionable. It's possible to do the right thing and still be committing a crime.

I think the step-father's arrest over indecent images is just a tiny part of the overall picture.

Much yet to be revealed.

What come to mind is it possible some people could an eye on a rather lucrative "Madeleine Fund" and stage an abduction?

Considering that many respected commentators have pointed out the differences in how the 2 disapearances were treated in the media because of class and background ,you could well be onto something.

This lot don't look too bright either although I am pre-judging them saying that.

Nice to see "Miss Dewsbury" from the UK competition for Miss World. The local costume up there seems to be a tent disguised as a t-shirt. I guess it means they can post an entire news story on the front of the T-shirt.

So far I've heard no hint of this case involving any kind of sexual abuse. None of the charges yet relate to that kind of offence.

I find the whole situation very sad. The thing that alarms me most is the way the jounalists are frothing at the mouth and trailing their tongues on the floor. I don't think they care much what the girl has gone through, so long as they have a good story. Many of the public are the same.
