Grand National Dead Cert... 16 Years ago
How could anyone not back D'Argent (when we publish the Zombies and Rod Argent) with a trainer called King?

I've only had a quick glance through the runners, and the one that stood out for me was Simon

... which probably means it'll fall at the first.

I quite fancy Fresh Winter in the preceding race.

I came second with King John's Castle!

Fat lot of good - I never back each way.

Hey, the winning jockey spent 6 months inside. If I'd known that, I'd have backed Comply Or Die!

What a lovely piece of classical music!
Used every year for the National on the Beeb!

Well spotted Hoss; I thought "how wonderful" every time the Beeb played it (which they did several times).

I have always wondered (when I hear this piece of music), why it hasn't been made into a classical track - with a vocal from someone such as Katherine Jenkins, Sarah Brightman etc....

Surely it would have great interest, with the Millions of World-wide viewers who hear it every year!

Thoughts JK?

Do you think adding a vocal spoil it as a piece of classical music??

EXACTLY the same as me JK - i backed King Johns Castle and didn't do it each way! That on top of an FA Cup semi final defeat!!!!

Well, it does seem I am 24 years too late with this....

Shirley Bassey released a version of 'Sometimes' way back in 1984 as her new single.

Still...., a 'newer' version from someone such as Il Divo or Katherine Jenkins could be a huge hit!

Yes, it's a beautiful piece.

Inspired by the wonderful story of Bob Champion and Aldaniti. Winning the National after Bob recovered from cancer, and Aldaniti a broken leg.
