Last night I decided to go to the freezer and removed a tray of frozen Sui Mai - those little chinese dumplings of pork, prawns, chicken and mushrooms in a thin noodle case.

They looked awful - all frozen stuff has the look of a mammoth from the Antarctic - but the "eat by" date was October 2008. It said 6 minutes in the microwave so I nervously put the icy little things in and removed them, dipping them into chilli sauce.

They were absolutely delicious!

Far nicer (and again cheaper) than that inedible MacDonald's Egg and Bacon Burger.

A bit scary that one and I refuse to have a microwave in the kitchen, which even the tall and spotty one has learned to live without now.

It`s abscence cleared a whole surface as well for breadmaking.

I do buy frozen stuff but only from wholesalers, you cannot beat the onion bhajis that go directly to the Indian restuarants, it is the flavour and texture we expect and seems dreadfully bad for you in many ways also .

But yes , I have to say, that Maccy D burger you had was probably put together, frozen and incarcerated at about the same time you were.
