I have to say it's been a splendid series so far.

Frankie tried to pick me up once! It was when we were both guests on the Clive Anderson Show and a pretty half hearted effort it was too.

Strange man - awful wig; bizarre moles all over his face - he looked like a dead sheep up close in person - and wasn't particularly nice or amusing.

Would love to see a clip of that Clive Anderson show.

What was Anderson like? He comes across as pretty smug to me.

It looks very good - and must make a point of watching as previous shows in this series don't seem to be on iPlayer !

Well Lawrence, since you ask...

The Anderson show was pre recorded and every time I responded to his terribly rehearsed jokes I got a much bigger laugh than he did - so they edited out all my replies and kept in the reactions!

I wouldn't have minded them chopping out my witty responses but stealing my applause was very naughty. So I refused all offers of future appearances.

He did that to a degree with Frankie too.

A real lawyer.

Met Frankie Howerd once years ago and same here-was expecting an amusing man but he seemed incredibly depressing yet I just loved his work so much.

I couldn't believe how bad his wig was !.

VERDICT - very disappointed; the worst of the series - one dimensional. Sadly, David Walliams cannot act - his portrayal was a caricature.

Much better was the show after it on BBC4 - Frankie himself and several terrific contributions from stars many of whom have now passed away.

It showed how really funny he could be.

At 14 I joined The Establishment (the club) - I wanted to see Lenny Bruce but was too young; I did, however, go to Frankie who was brilliant.

I took my Mum there with great pride as a grown up teenager!

Didnt like it either - it was an amagamation of all Walliam's characters from his tv show. The actor who played Dennis seemed to be doing an impression of Andy from LB as well!

I didn't watch this because of David Walliams. Millions may find him funny and talented but I don't... if anything he gives me the creeps and when I heard he was playing Frankie Howerd, I was not impressed. So, to hear here what some thought of his performance makes me glad I didn't bother. Just because he is a "comedian" doesn't necessarily qualify him to act the part of a famous comedian in a drama.

I love Frankie Howerd's work though must confess a little of it goes a long way. Certainly a unique and peculiar man. I remember Michael Parkinson talking about interviewing him and that Howerd insisted on using a script which defeated the object of an interview, hinting at Howerd's insecurity with being "himself" on screen.

As for the wig, the Carry On films director is on record as saying it was the only wig he ever saw that actually had dandruff on it!

Excellent portrayed by Walliams. Captured the torment poor Frankie suffered. Only gripe, too much emphasis on the seedy side of his homosexuality. Its fine the first couple of times to see him and Dennis sleep together, but more time could have been focused on the story rather than the shock factor.

Cannot abide David Walliams. Hate Little Britain, hate him, even hate his comic relief stunts. The curse of comedy series was ruined by none other than Walliams. He believes, helped by OK magazine, that he's the 'new' Hancock, or the new 'Kenny Williams'.. he couldn't tie their bootlaces.

Take the s out of curse...and let's help find the Cure for comedy...getting rid of Walliams will be a step in the right direction.

I know some people who met Frankie. They did say he was a boring old fart, which shocked me, seeing him in the carry ons and things... so one thing you can say about him is that he was a great actor! He was also very, very funny (on screen at least!).
