I have to agree, Michael Kitchen is fantastic, under-playing the role to seem almost diffident - quite brilliant.
I do understand that ITV have approached Anthony Horowitz with the plan to create some more episodes. Next week's episode is the final one which sees the end of the war and VE day.
Foyle's War had to end when the war ends. It's possible that more Foyle episodes could be made with a revised title, but it would have such a different feel in peacetime. I got the impression that they didn't originally expect the series to last as long as it did, or to be as popular.
Ah .. Anthony Hororwitz! He's the guy I advised BBC people to have write Dr Who. That series would have had so much more depth and character using his creativity.
