Bones at abuse home may mean murder: police

BONE fragments and teeth found in a cellar at a former children's home are the remains of children who may have been murdered, police on the Channel Island of Jersey say.

Up to 30 human bone fragments and seven milk or baby teeth were found near a fireplace in an underground room at Haut de la Garenne, where police have been investigating allegations of physical and sexual abuse of children spanning more than 30 years.

The officer heading the investigation, Deputy Chief Constable Lenny Harper, said on Wednesday that some of the bones showed signs of having been cut and burnt.

"A lot of the bones appear to have some degree of burning to them," Mr Harper said. "In fact, one or two are showing signs of potential circumstances which might [imply] a homicide in that some of the bones have been cut. There is no doubt there are the remains of children in that cellar, and no one would expect us to walk away and leave it."

Funny how this whole child exploitation thing all seems to have gathered momentum at the same time as the CCCP threat was removed at the start of the 90s.
