I loved the film of Lion, Witch, Wardrobe and hope Caspian will be as good but The Magician's Nephew, written last but first of the books to explain the creation of Narnia, is fantastic.

I think it's my favourite of the books. Diggory (no coincidence JK Rowling borrowed the name for the Potter series) is perhaps the noblest and nicest of Lewis' heroes.

Do buy the excellent paperback compilation (I bought it in a glorious Rome bookshop opposite the Grand Hotel) and read them all.

CS Lewis was a wonderful writer - far better, in my opinion, than Tolkein.

The Magicians Nephew is also my favourite of the books. I read it when I was ten and it remains as good today. Brilliantly imaginative.

On Prince Caspian, I see from trailers that they have made him a man. In the book he is only a boy. In fact, in the Voyage of the Dawn Tredder he is still younger than portrayed in the new movie. For me that's already spoiled things slightly.

I always suggested to new readers of the books to read The Magicians Nephew first. The only trouble with doing it that way, is it is written in a completely different way to "The Lion W +W".
I`m unsure of which one is my favourite, I think "Dawn Treader" of "The Silver Chair". I was never gripped by the "Last Battle" but I did want to read the outcome.
