David Davis is in favour of the death penalty, but he said that he would never push for it because it's just his personal opinion. The worst is Ann Widdicombe who claimed the death penalty saves lives.
Not sure how she works that out.
On the witness issue, the likes of Jack Straw miss the point that there are no criminals and victims until the courts have ruled on the evidence. Both sides should be treated equally, in the interests of fairness and justice, so if a witness can remain anonymous then so should the accused who might be innocent.
