Euro 2008 - no third place battle? 15 Years, 10 Months ago
I was looking forward to a Saturday runners up match where the two teams who SHOULD have been in the Final would have fought for third place.

In fact I suspect it might have been a better game than the final since both Turkey and Russia had real spirit, energy and enthusiasm... but NO GAME!

Whatever happened to it?

I think that only happens in the World Cup.

They always seem like an anti climax to me.

Talking of sport, Englands` cricket fiasco this week has been appalling and embarrasing.
It was the first time I had ever wanted them to lose and that from a dedicated fan that does get up at 2 am to follow them in the Winter is a shocking attitude.
The huge money suddenly about to be chucked into cricket has made certain people become right prats.
I predicted , in a sports article I used to write that cricket would be turned into a bad form of baseball by USA money.
The entertainment value is higher and creditble, but the sportsmanship, if left as unchecked as this will create an on field brawl very soon.

Roll up , here we go ! Grrrrrrrrrrr.....

Baseball is a MUCH finer sport than cricket, Mart!

(My Mum's dead so I can risk saying that now!).
