Hmm.
To quote Mike Mullen "this is a very unstable part of the world and I don`t want it be more unstable."

What are they going to do then blow it all up, kill loads more? Is that stability?

And to quote Country Joe and the Fish "3 5 4 what are we fighting for?".

If there is "trouble" discovered on Mars, is that the bundle after this one?
Is this then followed by The Stars And Stripes played out over the end credits?

Iran has been "chosen" because of its perceived "threat" to Israel. After Iraq, each one is being "taken out" in turn (Syria next) - of course its also a "bonus" if they have a bit of oil !!! - so any near neighbour can be cowered into capitulation by the US@s puppet-masters in the Middle East (a bit like the Palestinians really).

This one could come terribly unstuck though - if Iran is attacked all they need do is sink a couple of ships in the straits of Hormuz and that ends all oil shipments from Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi (as well as Iran) etc etc !

You deduce correctly, Mart !

Nor does Zimbabwe stand on land where the Yanks plan to build a pipeline (to transport cheap Russian gas to a port in Turkey) - but (you will not be surprised to hear) Afghanistan does !!!

The Arab countries or the Americans?

Let's put it this way ... why do you think the US has spent billions of dollars on Iraq and not a penny on Zimbabwe ?

Or delve a little deeper. Most Iraq contracts are awarded to a firm called Halliburton - a firm once run by US Vice President Dick Cheney.

Now read this Congressional report - http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/09/2...ics/main575356.shtml

Well good luck to Mr Obama.
What is it with the human race that when they leave any job, they always have to leave their replacement in the mire?
Which then follows into the same behaviour trait?

There's no mention in that report about Bush planning to attack Iran. I think your interpretation is a very broad one and that such an attack is highly unlikely.

Yeah ! And he also claimed to be going to use diplomatic efforts over Iraq (whilest actually planning the attacks !)

The report says - At a US defence department news conference, Adm Mullen refused to say what Israeli leaders told him during meetings last week about any plan to strike Iran.

But he warned that opening up a third front, after Iraq and Afghanistan, would be "extremely stressful, very challenging, with consequences that would be difficult to predict".

Asked if he was concerned Israel would strike before the end of the year, he said: "This is a very unstable part of the world and I don't need it to be more unstable."
---

I suggest that you also check out - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7465170.stm - conveniently titled "Israelis rehearse Iran attack" (no doubt all this was finalised during Bush's recent visit to the occupied lands).

Surely American forces are far too overstretched for this to be considered a serious option.

Bush is an idiot, but I doubt he could do this even if he really wanted to. I assume he'd have to get Senate approval, and they know how unpopular it would be with the American people.

If only !
The President is "Commander in Chief" and has sole power over foreign affairs - Senate approval is not required.
