Well, the point was made (which surely we all agree with) that media controlled headline government does not work.
But it is still odd that someone can be in favour of capital punishment yet object to locking up innocent people for 42 days (and surely anything over 7 days is wrong?).

Great publicity for the cause but sadly proof (if we needed it) that the media agenda is not to take such "stunts" seriously.

Society is now in such an absurd position that nothing deserves to be taken seriously anymore.

I am pleased that David Davis took this stand. Freedom is something we take for granted and we seem to be cavalier in protecting it in our country. We need a reminder. I do believe that he did it for the right reasons regardless of his other non freedom beliefs. No one is perfect.

It is interesting that the DAVID ICKE video ( see link on the other thread ) is the MOST WATCHED VIDEO IN THE UK and THIRD MOST WATCHED IN THE WORLD on the INTERNET at the moment !!!! This shows that the "message" of the election is reaching a Worldwide audience of hundreds of thousands. Probably over a MILLION will see the DAVID ICKE talk - that alone is an amazing result of this election.

It will encourage debate and discussion about freedom and liberty and whether we choose to go down the "Big Brother" Route or the "justice and freedom" route.

NEW LABOUR's home office man MCNULTY has weighed in with his contribution to the debate today on BBC NEWS - his stunning contribution was to call DAVIS - HOMER SIMPSON ( with encouragement from the New anchor ) and not to discuss 42 days at all.

When we realise that NEW LABOUR are not interested in debate or voting - then we see the MASSIVE DANGER in our society from these people. They are anti democracy - they buy and sell privelege ( Honours - votes on bills ) like in the dark ages before true democracy was established in the West. They do this by belittling the opposition - whether than be the Official Opposition or ICKE. They are all RIDICULED as nutters - or HOMER SIMPSON.

Time for EVERYONE to WAKE UP - if we sleepwalk into a Fascist Style state ( and it is happening ) then it is OUR OWN FAULT. We cant rely on people like ICKE etc to change things - he only got 110 votes. He is not a Political Party - he has no money behind him and is ignored by the media.

It is in OUR HANDS. The question asked at school always was in history - "Why didnt the German people stop Hitler....? " and we could be in that boat in 50 years time " Why didnt the UK citizens protect their freedoms ...?"

We MUST NOT GIVE UP OUR KIDS FUTURE !!!

The German people were given the same reasons by their leaders - that extreme measures were needed to protect the security of their nation. People often swallow that. I remember the elderly German lady on the documentary 'The Nazis a warning from history' when asked why the German people didn't prevent the harsh treatment of the Jews. She said that the Jews had been sytematicaly, over a period of time, dehumanised in the eyes of the people until they were considered no more than vermin. Government and media working together can convince an entire people that black is yellow.

I believe that David Davies did the right thing. There is a major difference between supporting a certain kind of penalty for people found guilty of crime and not wanting to every decent citizen deprived of their rights and freedoms. I don't support the death penalty, but it's an entirely seperate issue to the one David Davies was highlighting.
