Nobody cares.
Geldof cared but found too soon the personal advantages of caring publicly.
And his family discovered the disadvantages of the Geldof approach to life. And are still discovering them.
We all pretend to care but more as a nice feeling than as something genuine.
We all pretend to care about miscarriages of justice but not enough to do anything about it.

A couple of quid to a high profile charity, especially if we get something from it - kudos, free concert, badge...

Hypocrisy is the thing we all adore.
Honesty is not popular at all.

" kudos, free concert , badge.." You missed out wrist band.

But, in fairness, there are people who give to charity on the quiet, expecting nothing in return.

Some even go out to poor communities to muck in, e.g. David Essex taught for several years in an African village school before the media found out about it - and then he only got a slight mention because he wasn't a big name any more.

Then there is Sir Cliff who was doing it long before Geldof had the idea.

Mostly, however, it is the ordinary (non celeb) people who contibute the most (proportionately).

What we should tell any NEW LABOUR candidate at the next election.

WHY HAVE YOU NOT KEPT YOUR PROMISE ON WORLD POVERTY ?

Our media rant and rail against the Darwins and cover sleaze.....whilst people are DYING around the world because WE are starving them with OUR economic system.

History will judge the G8 as the cruellest group of people ever to have the resources in the World at their disposal.

They are basically TACIT MURDERERS in my view.

Cliff and St Bob are not the problem and NOT the solution. Our GOVERNMENT needs to TAX THE CITY and help eradicate poverty. They need to wipe out the debts ( and add up the interest paid and give it back to these people )

Whilst we get FAT these people starve. We CANT DO ANYTHING BUT protest to our Government. Our MEDIA is so blinded by the CULT OF CELEB ( including these silly CELEB CONCERTS for change ) that they seem to have become disconnected from the real issues in the World.

How many more children and people have to die of starvation this year before the G8 do something practical ?

The crazy thing is - we can GET CAMERAS THERE to film them dying - but we cant get food there....anyone else think this is totally creepy and a sign that our World really has lost the plot ?
