If he wins his case against the News of the World he could say he doesn't want a penny in damages but wants to hit a paper where it hurts, by the Judge banning publication for one day.

Readers decide to try the Mail On Sunday instead, prefer it and desert in droves the next week and thereafter.

Millions lost in advertising revenue.

Now THAT might deter.

The new Australian government is talking about a "privacy law" which has the local News Ltd newspapers apoleptic but the amusing thing is that they are saying this will be dreadful for the numerous gossip magazines published in Oz that take the place of the multitude of UK tabloids ( without mentioning the effect upon daily newspapers-Murdoch owning just about every main newspaper in every Australian city).

Naturally all the News Ltd newspapers are full as as much gossip as the magazines-just not in full colour etc.

They are going so far that they keep publishing polls ( (taken by their own Newspoll company) saying that the new PM Kevin Rudd is becoming "arrogant"-with their political writers producing endless tales to discredit him.."his honeymoon is over" and so on>

It's all quite delicious watching how it's backfiring so badly on them. The much more respected polls keep giving Kevin Rudd a 60 to 70% approval rate while the Opposition Leader hovers around between 8-17%.

Is Murdoch's power finally on the wane ?. Fox News in the USA is dropping viewers by the thousands.
