If you think back to the 70`s there was a large amount of Blackbirds that developed half of this condition, making them "pied".
On the Isle of Wight, at the Royals ex mansion , of which the name escapes me, there is a stuffed, pure white Swift which was found on the beach there.
This is an odd condition in birds, only recently the RSPB decided there was actually no difference between the Pied Wagtail and White Wagtail, I believe due to the same problem in the species of birds as a whole.
I wonder if in 200 years time, we will have an official Whitebird species?
