John Lennon was a friend of mine - indeed we had a lunch date booked for the Thursday after he was killed by Chapman - but am I alone in being disgusted by the fact that clearly the only reason Mark has been denied parole is because his victim was a high profile celebrity?
It's like the Myra Hindley situation.
I do worry when Justice is totally predicated on media interest.

Well, I sit between two camps on that one.
The biggest punishment that "man" could have had would have been an enforced name change.
It is horrible that he is so famous for his mad behaviour, the law gave him what he wanted.

Probably because it saves the govt the hassle and cost of arranging the inevitable lifetime protection, identity change etc, etc. He will probably feel more of a prisoner being free than he is now! The same would have happened to Hindley if she was released.

In the US murder is treated as murder and life means life. I believe it is this country that has punishment wrong - we are far too lenient. Whatever else Chapman is, he is a cold bloodied murderer.

Yeah, agree. And if he saw Jared Leto's performance of him he would kill himself anyway!

I believe Yoko told the parole board she and her son would not feel safe if he was released.
Put yourself in the parole board's shoes...if he was released,and did kill again...can you blame them?
