I am sure I thought I saw him working in a chip shop in Blackpool with a bloke who looked like ELVIS but I could be wrong..............

Perhaps everyone should send in their own personal sighting of the fallen rock star.

For example :

I once saw him play a gig in the Lea Valley Park - does that count. I also saw him on Top of the Pops alot of times and he was in the Student Railcard Advert.

It would be funny if their newsdesk was jammed with callers recounting when they saw GLITTER.

Lets be honest - the SUN does not say that the sightings have to be current.

Good to see our press taking the Nazi view. Let the poor old duffer live out the rest of his life in peace. I dont see what good comes out of this sort of gutter reporting.

There are loads of kids being knifed - but I dont see the SUN opening a hotline to protect them - a "SHOP SOMEONE WHO HAS A KNIFE" hotline. Their priorities are completely skewed - and our kids are in MORE danger because the real threats to them ( like Knives ) dont create such good copy........

I totally agree with your post.

Glitter has done his time, gone on the sex register and, although I cannot condone in any way the acts he was convicted of, he has DONE HIS TIME.

The tabloids' mentality sometimes makes me doubt that we live in a civilised society.

I came to this site somewhat cynical, but now think that Vile Pervert should be compulsory viewing.

The purpose of the Sun newspaper is to sell newspapers and make money by pandering to the lowest common denomenators. In this case it is a collective urge for hate figures combined with a salacious interest in paedophiles that is being pandered to. To justify it, the Sun wraps it all up in an insincere 'moral' coat. Gary Glitter has become like Emmanuel Goldstein in Orwell's 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' ie someone for the lower orders to rant at.

there is a good opportunity to have some fun here..like having a pal dressed up like GG and sending them snaps etc.

Obviously one should demand and get some good cash up front from them.

Joe Flynn was a legendary and fantastically clever con-man who took Fleet Street newspapers for thousands of pounds on numerous stings during the 70's up to the 90's..always clever enough to make sure he broke no law..he replied upon newspaper journalists who desperately wanted to believe his wacky stories and outrageous claims...and always got the money up front.

He posed as an wealthy Arab, Israeli spy, CIA agent etc. and he hit just about every UK newspaper-from the top to the bottom.
Flynn relied on the fact that most newspaper editors would never admit they were conned and that every few years all the editors had been replaced so he could do it all over again. Many of his false stories were never corrected.
