JK says... BR posted comments copied and pasted from a national newspaper forum which he (she?) considered incitement to criminal acts and indeed if made by Islamists would provoke arrest.

I agree and as a result have not carried them on here. We believe in responsible debate and suggest the authorities examine these forums and arrest those who are breaking the law by making or publishing such hate.

I just cant understand how the SUN can act in such a criminal way and the Police ignore the posters who are basically issueing death threats via their site.

It is a deeply disturbing part of British culture that the Police will almost certainly turn a blind eye to these things.

Obviously I don't know what the "cut and paste" job was but there are laws in the UK and most western oountries now that one must be so careful of-except of course if you are a tabloid newspaper which seems exempt from all laws including ones about inflamatory racist talk that can incite morans to commit the awful crimes of recent days against some poor Arab boy or a Pakistani or black kid.

I notice today the NoTW is running photos of children in an inevitable story about GG-one being his Cuban son and the other a Vietnamese boy in some beat-up attempting to disparage one of G's friends. ( This is obviously going to be their new tactic-hope his pals have enough integrity not to fall for it).

Here in Australia there are media laws expressly forbidding the identifying of children in cases like this and as the NoTW can be accessed here-and indeed is often linked to and promoted by it's co-owned Aussie newspapers (about 65% of them) I'm making a formal complaint to the ACMA (government regulatory body for the media)about this.

Essentially the ACMA is a toothless tiger a bit like it's UK counterpart but the Director of Public Prosecutions isn't and takes the matter seriously. 2 top shock jocks here ( the richest and most powerful) have been found guilty and fined over a similar matter-identifying children on air.( they both now have criminal records).Significantly-both of their careers have plummeted since-although they are pretty old and so wealthy one has retired and one about to.

But I want it on the record. Too many people ignore these travesties but once a proven record is shown-someone has to act.

PS: one strange thing about all the attempts by the NoTW to harass GG is they keep pointing out that he has well over the legal-age girlfriends !

If Glitter does end up getting killed by a mob, I sincerely hope that not only would the killers be punished but others (and not just little people) be prosecuted for incitement and accessory to murder.

I was reading that a teacher has been inciting local teenagers into forming a mob to harrass Glitter and the friend who was housing him. Then we wonder why our kids are turning into feral animals.

I also wonder how many thousands of young children's lives are being ruined right now by the culture of bullying in our schools that this obscene hounding of Glitter by the press encourages and validates?

Papers like the SUNDAY MIRROR and MAIL ON SUNDAY are gaining readers a good rate over the last 10 years and the days when the NOTW was a massive read have gone.

It has been too nasty to too many people and its stories have been found out so many times to be false that it has no credibility left.

Today the News of The World and the Mirror are both running articles about Gary Glitter. Both infer that a friend who collected Glitter from the airport and housed him for a short time "misguidely defends his friend" or is "Sadly unable to see past his friendship" . One of these rags even implies with tricky words that this friend could possibly be similar.

Weasle words from pathetic hacks who haven't got the guts to expose their own lives for our scrutiny. This is now beyond a joke. Whatever one thinks of Glitter-there are tens of thousands of people in Britain who are far worse than him but retain their annonymity.

This is one of the most vicious, nasty and cruel victimisations of one man I believe I've ever witnessed from the media. It's now time for men and women of the Churches of all faiths-if they believe in what they preach, to speak out and ask for Glitter to be left alone. It's time for politicians-unlike the incompetant and bandwagon jumping Jacqui Smith-to speak up and ask that the rule of law be obeyed, and that means a man who has paid his price for a crime be left alone. As lawmakers it is their duty to speak out instead of gutlessly staying silent or attempting to use Glitter's currrent plight for own purposes.

Those that lead are playing to the mob and allowing themselves to be dictated to by a vicous media whose sole interest is making money out of other's plight. They care nothing about children.

It's ironic that the NoTW should be driving this campaign when the entire News Ltd organisation led by Rupert Murdoch repeatedly beat the drums of war-and without whom George Bush or Tony Blair could not have launched their unholy war that blasted to smithereens thousands of Iraqi children and has left similar numbers permanently crippled-left nearly a million Iraqis displaced and homeless. Enough is enough.
