I wish I could find a link to it..but there was a fascinating experiment done by a university on the London Underground.

About 20 people, each of whom who believed they were the only ones taking part in the experiment, were told to get onto a certain railway carriage at certain times and note all the other people.

Much later they were then given a questionaire to record their observations of all the othe rpassengers.

The extraordinary differences in perceptions were amazing..showing how each person can have a totally different concept of another person and that details like dress, looks etc were often way out of whack with reality.

An example. A young black man gets onto the train..an older white woman thinks he looks threatening..but a young black girl thinks he looks handsome and charming. The older white woman thinks he looks 6 ft tall but the black girl thinks he looks about 5'8"-an ideal size for her. They both got his clothing completely wrong.

On and on it went..each person giving entirely different versions of other people and almost every single one getting physical descriptions completely wrong.

Very interesting

So you may have false memories about not having sex - where does that leave us?

It leaves us to consider evidence rather than to rely on memory - which is what the legal process should be about anyway.

Yes a hundredfold.

(There does seem to be a bizarre idea that "accusation is evidence"... but that's another thread)
