You are right up to a point. The media did not exert the downward pressure on HBOS - it seems to have come from elsewhere.

I have a distinct feeling that there are "players" in the Stock Markets who are "playing" the market and forcing these companies to merge or go to the wall.

It is like the weird OIL price in the summer - can anyone say why it suddenly rocketed to 147 a barrell ? No big war - no sudden supply issues - no pipelines went down..............just speculators driving the price up and in doing so have bankrupt half the World's airlines - loads of small haulage companies and put the price of food up by 15% and Utilities by 20% causing rampany inflation and property crash in the UK and starvation in the poor World.

What is going on ? The meeeja are playing their part - but what is the bigger picture / script that they are only just one part.......

Funnily enough I had a meeting all morning with my bank managers (they are always pleased to see me - never been in the red in 45 years) and they totally agreed - the financial troubles are totally due to the media making better stories out of trivia.

The last few months has been akin to a modern day Ian Fleming/Frederick Forsyth plot. All we need now is confirmation that the Russian government (perhaps in cohorts with Al Quaeda??)has taken advantage of the vulnerabilities and historical greed of the Western banking system and engineered this US/GB financial meltdown whilst making trillions of dollars.

Trouble is, who will save the West from destitution and World Domination? I know of no James Bond or International Rescue. HELP!

The truth is, it's probably something more mundane like George Soros or similar character up to his old tricks again.
