TOPIC: Ruth Rendell

Ruth Rendell 15 Years, 8 Months ago
Regulars will know I love ITV3 - I watch more of it than any other channel and have done for years.

Ruth Rendell was brilliant last night and her first novel, From Doon To Death - was shown - it was fabulous.

Adapted by George Baker who plays Wexford and featuring a gorgeous young Amanda Redman (so superb in New Tricks).

I met Baker when I was 14.

Last night's Simisola was absolutely excellent - I'm so glad ITV3 is repeating them; I never saw them originally in the mid 90s and they are SO much better than anything on the main channels.

All bollocks and botox.

And another great episode last night about a mysterious gender murder... these are very well written and acted and I'm astonished I didn't watch them in the 90s.

ITV3 is quite an eye opener regarding how good the channel was 15-20 years ago.

You should register this phrase. It is a great title for a book, a movie or a musical.

Surprising that Rendall hasn't used it herself.

She is one of the cleverest writers I have found especially in crime. Her plots are always about the most mundane people who could be living next door who commit terrible murders.

Just like real life !
