Leg of lamb bought from the excellent Waitrose, fresh roast potatoes, delicious salad of chunks of avocado in vinaigrette, huge glass of iced spritzer with fine white Burgundy and sparkling water with loads of ice.

Afterwards, fresh mango and cream.

We had quite an odd one yesterday.

We broke for lunch and had the days special which was Welsh rarebit on Ciabatta. Surprisingly good.

Now the table next to us had not been cleared and somebody had left a whole slice of black pudding on a plate after leaving to go about their afternoon.
A colleague of mine, decided on the fact that it was going in the bin anyway and picked it up and took a bite.
A waiter, who had failed to clear the table, instantly appeared shouting "that is not your food!!!!!", before pulling it from his grasp like a digestive biscuit from a toddler!

Now, people who are reading this will probably think this was the behaviour of a rock n roll lout, but it was so out of character of the very nice and well behaved guy that makes this story so funny. I have no idea what he was thinking at that moment really, but I have not laughed so much at a reprimand in ages.

A very strange case in point though isn`t it? And another example of how we throw so much food away in the UK that there is actually nothing wrong with.

Well I do hope the CrayFish family like me also as I have just eaten about 30 of their tails!

I adore them, much better than prawns. No need for any complicated sauces on these things, I used mayo, a slice of bread, and rocket for dressing.

(Cheaper than a Big Mac also Buster and no bloatedness afterwards!)

I love rocket and watercress - normally in a fresh bread roll with a light smearing of Marmite on both sides. Wonderful.

That is a really weird sandwich Steve, but I gave you a Karma point for invention there!

I had , for some reason, a serious craving for a chedder and onion sarnie after work yesterday, so stopped at a pub and ordered one, amazingly , this was not the menu, but not that difficult to manage,as I expected.
I did not expect them to give me 8 of them and a bag of crisps on the side!(the problem was this left no room for dinner)

I also adore water cress, I used to pick it wild with my Dad from streams as a kid, but you have to take your hat off to the farmer who supplies most of us with it and pretty much has a monopoly on it in the UK, it was a very brave move from him and one we are all grateful for.

I have got a bit bored with rocket though, it has become a bit of a plate filler thing, if I do use it, I dress it with balsamic dressing.
I have actually gone back to, the once overused, iceberg lettuce as my main salad ingredient, I really like the crunch of it. It is also great for duck wraps instead of using the traditional pancakes.
