I don't think I'm drawing too long a bow to say that the increasing moral panic that sees a "pedo behind every bush" and has turned sex into one of the most dangerous games in town, is a device favoured by politicians as a last resort when all their useless policies have failed.

The "war on terror" is another-you are in more danger of being run down by the No 31 bus than die in a terrorist related incident yet daily our pollies bang on about some new freedom must be denied us for our own safety.

Here is a tale of voter fraud in the USA as a corrupt firm signed up new members to the Republcan Party, And how was it done ?. Apart from showing how dim an awful lot of Yanks are by signing anything shoved in front of them without reading the fine print-people thought they were signing a'petetiton against child molestors" !

GOP voter registration fraud case leads to arrest

SACRAMENTO -- The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario late last night on suspicion of voter registration fraud.

State and local investigators allege that Mark Jacoby fraudulently registered himself to vote at a childhood California address where he no longer lives so he would appear to meet the legal requirement that signature gatherers be eligible to vote in California.

The voters said YPM tricked them by saying they were signing a petition to toughen penalties against child molesters. The firm was paid $7 to $12 for every Californian it registered as a member of the GOP.

If we took a legislative view of Terrorism and applied the number of deaths caused by Terrorism to other things then I feel that we would have to :

a. Ban alcohol sales ( 100,000 deaths a year?)
b. Smoking ( 200,000 deaths a year )
c. Fast Food ( 50,000 deaths a year )
d. Car Travel ( 10,000 deaths a year )
e. Buses ( 100 deaths a year )

and so on.

You cant take RISK out of living. It is impossible. How can a LAW stop a terrorist. What is BROWN going to do if OSAMA himself walks on a train with a bomb - run alongside with a copy of his latest laws and wave it at him ?

I think the dumb people of the UK who believe that you can stop something by making a law forget that there is a law against speeding - but 95% of traffic on our roads goes above that limit at some point each day.

We need to make peace with Islam. Not wage war with them. That will stop terrorism tomorrow.
