I really wanted not to like Sunshine. It started with an uncomfortable mix of comedy and tragedy.
But how could anyone not like someone involved in Alan Partridge? And Tony Wilson?
And Bernard Hill?
And Nicola Shindler who is, I think, the best producer in Britain?
So I stuck with it. And it won me over.
The little boy who played Joe was marvellous. So was the girl who played Bernadette.
And I do like Steve Coogan.
All in all I loved this tear jerker.

Simply beautiful drama. All of us in tears here.

Agree totally.

The BBC really can turn out amazing programmes. Shame about their awful news coverage.

Not being a Steve Coogan fan I hadn't watched this, but saw the beginiing of tonight's episode and decided to watch it for a few minutes. Ended up watching it all and quite enjoying it. I've been so disillusioned by so many modern British drams, but they seem to have got it right with this one.

And the spam fests that are Strictly Come Dancing 7 days a week, EastEnders and last but not least Eggheads... and if Eggheads wasn't bad enough, we now have Are You An Egghead? to rub it in...

One of Coogans best performances and the three parter got better and better.

I concur about the news coverage, after the tear jerker, you then get told that Osborne is a crook (definately Mandelson's spin) and we are heading into a recession. I switched it off at 10-02.

BBC Dramas have been excellent this year, and with Silent Witness and Spooks returning, it should continue.
