I find it very interesting that in going to pubs restuarants etc that it is now completely acceptable to order an array of starters or side dishes for lunch or dinner.
This is a situation that has changed radically over the last twenty years, when many Indian restuarants would not even supply the vegetarian diner with the vegetable "side dishes" unless they ordered a main dish, when of course there was no vegetarian main option for a meal in many of them.
Even my local pub, supplies and array of "smaller plates" made for "sharing" or you can just have on for yourself if you like.

I think that a major social change in the way the Britain eats is starting to happen. The days of piling up plates, with "serve yourself" salad and veg will naturally decline as the customer will just want to try as many flavours as possible, which will change the way that we eat.

This new trend can only have come from one change to the UK scene in food, and that has to be the introduction of the Spanish Tapas bars, which has taught us that eat "nibbles" is completely socially acceptable.

Having a mix of foods at once is not really new...but ordering them off the starter menu is.
Seems it's taken us this long to catch up with the Chinese,Indian,spanish etc.
Still could be worse,here in Ukraine for a few days,and can't even find a single appetising course at the local eateries,let alone several.

I just like the way that they don`t sneer at us the customer like we are being a cheapskate anymore and take it as the compliment it actually is.
