I'm just watching our local BBC regional programme and could not believe a royal feature involving Princess Anne opening some whatever, and how fawning & hat tipping the whole 3 or 4 minutes was.

I thought television had grown up past this sort of thing, which was lampooned really well in Spitting Image.

I class myself as a Republican Tory - if anything, Thatcher should have privatised the Royal Family in the 1980s!

I've become more and more aware over the years of how much the Royal Family do for this nation, although I'm equally aware that there are those who will never accept them. I respect and support the Royal Family.
