Brand quits the bbc 15 Years, 6 Months ago
It's a shame that Russell Brand has decided to quit over the reaction to his 'prank' phone call. He makes a sincere apology here
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7698417.stm

Anyone who listened to the phone message can hear that Ross is the main instigator and uses the only swear word in the message. Although both were wrong, if anyone should fall on their sword it should be Ross, or the producer who let it be broadcast.

I shall miss Russell's radio show, as I always used to listen to it in the gym on a podcast. I think there is much more offensive things on the bbc.
Only the other day Chris Moyles was doing silly voices over the news whilst they were reading a story about Sevvy Ballesteros' very serious brain tumour operation. I don't know where Brand can go now if he fears that he can't be funny without offending people. Hopefully he will have second thoughts and retract the resignation.

This whole thing has become rather surreal.

I feel the resignation has magnified and turned a fairly minor issue into something it doesn't deserve to be.

Amusing? Not for me. Tasteless? A bit. Important...

He's quit so he isn't sacked and in a couple of months he'll have a new job with the BBC

Just call me cynical....

A serious question here, that somebody must know the answer to.

I have noticed that a lot of the radio networks, which obviously Russel will probably now be available to work for, seem to run by Sky, as they have Sky News feeds etc.

Are there any radio stations run by Channel 4`s people to anyones knowledge?

Don't confuse taking a news feed from being owned or run by, Mart.

I know that much, as we used to take our news feeds from a very obscure station in Birmingham, which we would leave on a fader, with the fader down all day until the hour for the news when we would fade them in and wait for the epic line "it`s 3 minutes past "...whatever time it was.

Actually from anyone who has not been a broadcaster, thats probably quite interesting to note.
However, we never once mentioned the company that the news came from, neither were we asked to, they just gave us some of their adverts to play in return for their services, which probably gained them more revenue to their customers by increasing the genuine amount of listens the ads would get that they could boast of.
