but I hate earlier darkness. Night at 4pm? Ugh!

Six bloody months of winter. I hate it.

Well you could always go to Iceland, where I think it is now light all day and night, although I gather that most UK exports are kept by that country and not allowed back;)

I agree, I love the light mornings, but hate the dark evenings. But, I really worry about those folk who say we shouldn't alter the clocks for the winter, thinking that will give us an extra hour of daylight - without thinking we'll lose an our in the morning.

I remember we did stay on BST in the winter for 3 years in the late 1960s. It meant going to work/school in the dark - AND coming home in the dark. This way, at least we get going to work in the light. (And for young school children, who finish their day at about 3.30pm - they get to and from school in the light, which, in my opinion, is the sensible thing.)

We can't increase the number of hours of daylight, so we just have to live with what we've got.

And it's a beautiful sunny crispy morning today!!!

You wouldn't like early morning sun if you had to drive in an easterly direction to work every morning.

I prefer to see the road ahead, rather than rely on guesswork as to its whereabouts.

God it's bloody November already.

A few years ago I despised retired wrinklies who fled to Florida or Spain in search of retirement sunshine.

Now I AM one, I can see the point.

Added to the fact that new technology means you can live in the desert and still be a part of the UK (via Slingbox and others)... it is VERY tempting to move out for the 6 months of winter.
