"No matter how insane things become or how far from the truth we are led by histrionics and lies, the truly, objectively beautiful remains untainted."

Russell Brand

What a glorious quote - what a talented man. The idiots ( all 30,000 ) and those with no guts ( those that run the BBC ) and the media ( parasites on the bum of society ) - none have come up with one sentence to even be fit to clean the shoes of Mr Brand.

Case closed.

Verdict : Brand wins.

I have happened upon more talented five year olds. Perhaps you forget how he once completely ruined Have I Got News For You. He was truly horrendously bad on the radio too. A terrible broadcaster. And his stand up simply doesn't work, the material is designed to shock, but it's all been done before. His delivery is poor. The man is simply a gimmick. Nothing more.

Brand and Ross are listened to by millions. They are not hyped therefore their talent is the barometer for their viewers/listeners.

The two funniest people on TV and Radio - they always have made me laugh and everyone I speak to says the same ( if they are under 60 )

No doubt some 5 year olds are funny. Have never met one who could seriously be put on radio to run a show for 2 hours though..............

JK's piece in Attitudes and Opinions is a very telling statement about this whole situation - and very true.

Parky's opinion 15 Years, 6 Months ago
Michael Parkinson

On Ross:
"Jonathan should have more oil in his lamp frankly, more sense. Jonathan has been through a lot of television."

On Brand:
"The facts are he did something that was silly, obscene, tasteless and unfunny," said Sir Michael. "He's generously called a comedian. I can't feel much sympathy for him."

Generation gap stuff. At last a genuinely Yoof comedian - Little Britain when it started got alot of flak but they piloted it on BBC3 so it did not get the attention that Brand has had recently - his Hollywood career has certainly flagged him up to the older generation who probably never listened to him before.

If Parky was a regular listener to Brand's show, I'd respect his opinion.
If he heard about it through other sensationalist places, I don't.

And reiterate my earlier point; it's out of context.

Just as a tasteless joke bu Parky at dinner with a friend might well be offensive if converted to Mailese and splashed with righteous indignation on their front page.

Read it in the paper itself today - wouldn't normally read the sport section, but saw it there, saw it was written by Russell Brand, and gave it a go. Very glad I did
