I love these dramas - ever since I met Barry Goldwater, the Republican candidate, in San Francisco in 1964 when I was going around the world and dear Oz Elliott was Editor of Newsweek.
I covered several conventions and elections for the BBC - anyone remember A King In New York on R1 and Postcard from America on R4?
My predictions for decades were that Hillary Clinton would be the first female President and Will Smith the first black President.
It looks like I was wrong if, as I hope, Obama wins - though I do think McCain seems the most decent Republican in ages.
Anyway I'll be glued to the results.
One thing is for sure - Bush has been a fucking disaster.
There is something strange about Obama though... there's something about him, with his grand parents raising him, that reminds me of those Superman stories. He also looks like an older Lewis Hamilton. I think aliens haven't yet perfected skin blemishes in their imitations of humans. I noticed this with Condaleezza Rice and Edward Heath.
