Jersey inquiry - media driven farce!!!! 15 Years, 6 Months ago
Millions spent investigating the murder of a coconut and the abuse of nobody in a cellar that turns out to be floor space.

All because IT WAS A GREAT STORY!!!

Fictional (like my own convictions) but A GREAT STORY!!!

For God's sake let's start spending our tax money on important issues, like comedians making bad jokes on answering machines.

More public money wasted on police overtime.

A system driven by greed - which seeks to do easy jobs rather than tackle real criminals.

The UK Police " Run by Criminals for Criminals"

How many more events like this will take place before there is massive reform

I mentioned before - HISTORIC CASES need to be less than 5 years old in ALL cases. Surely in the case of a Murder enquiry you need a body and a witness before starting to dig and spending 10 million pounds !!!!

There may have been abuse at that home - but those standing trial cant have a fair trial in the light of these latest revelations.

It seems that the Police "fabricate" massive stories in order to get on TV and into the press.

We are seeing Celebrity TV Policing.

Jacqui Smith should also pull off TV all Reality Police TV Programmes which have to interfere with the Police doing their proper jobs.

Crimne prevention and investigation is not entertainment and New Labour's Show Trials etc are a perversion of the course of justice.

Brendon O'Neil at Spiked-Online gave a good account of this a few months ago :

Yes; the brilliant Richard Webster, a visitor to this board and one of the few voices of sanity in the media (read his superb Bryn Estyn book).

Chief of Jersey Police - Graham Power has just been suspended.

Seems that there is alot more to come on this story.

Good article by Webster - and I agree that real abuse gets hidden by these scare stories and Witch Hunts.

Most abuse takes place in the home within families - and the police and authorities dont intervene ( see BABY P for a classic example )

Hopefully some good will be learnt through all this tragedy.

I think Richard Webster refers to the aspect of "trawlng" by police which goes against natural justice and is the opposite to good policing.

It involves polce identifying a type of crime..then setting out to find "victims" and then "evidence".

It's been thoroughly discredited yet Jersey seems to be a prime example of it.

Examples are still happening here in Australia with Victorian police's head of Media Relations being charged with perjury along with deputy comissioners.

www.theage.com.au/national/ashby-says-mo...e-20081113-65m2.html

And a country Catholic college where 2 priests and a 3rd (dead for about 5 years) have been accused of sexually assaulting boys by 2 (now grown) men. Police placed adverts in local newspapers asking for further "victims" to come forth (..note they used the word "victim" implying guilt without trial)mentioning that compensation was available and low and behold..more complainants step forward.

The media can't lose in these cases-they get the sensationalism of the original story and if it falls apart that's another great tale.

What is utterly disgusting about this is that, because the police so desperately need victims and to give the media a story, they have arrested and charged a man aged 45, Michael Aubin, with abusing boys in the school in 1977.

Do your maths. He would have been 14 at the time.

I think this is appalling. If every 14 year old curious about sex was arrested for experimenting 31 years later, most of the Houses of Parliament should be in Belmarsh now.

The current state of society sickens me.

Indeed..that reminds of the most wonderful and great jazz musician George Melly who said when he was some public school and was 15 he "screwed" a certain Cabinet minister (in the Thatcher govt..he named him but I can't remember who it was ) and said.."he was a dud f**k then and and he's just as big a bore now "!

I mean really..in the USA they are arresting and jailing experimenting kids..that's real child abuse !

This rather massive story of police incompedence and malicious falsehoods has been dropped rather quickly after the media's alleged shock at the way they were duped and suckered. So many questions are raised by this, regarding trust and competence. The media should be investigating this thoroughly. How many more fake cases have there been?

look at the money wasted on a wild goose chase..deliberately because some copper let his ego get in the way or got caught up in the rediculous media roundabout and couldn't get off..and yet everday real genuine social workers are screaming out for more funds to help kids in real peril.

It's scandalous..it's evil !
