Same here. About 2 inches of beautiful crispy white stuff.

Up here in Liverpool? Not a flake of snow to be seen... but it sure is very cold!

There were just a few flakes on my West Derbyshire lawn when I finally dragged myself out of bed at about midday.

It amuses me when there is such a fuss south of the border when the first flakes of snow make an appearance. Media images of snow ploughs and closed roads etc. English snow must be different..

Not all us English are like that. I remember several feet of snow throughout February 1979 and we still all managed to go about our daily business. I took a 16 mile bus journey to work each day and, the council having cleared the way, snow was piled up bus height on each side of the smaller roads. Nowadays they close roads and shut down schools if there is more than six flakes. Snow hasn't changed but I think people have.

Well, after the snow we had pouring rain which cleared up into amazing bright sunshine and then rain again as it got dark.

When I went to school near Derbyshire the late 70s and 80's there would be snow on the ground from January to the end of March. The road from Buxton to Macclesfield would frequently be closed. Nowadays even up there, the sight of snow is pretty rare. Clear evidence that our climate is changing.
