In 1997 the brother told the Police what was going on - yet nothing was done. Of course if the father had been a CELEB or had many hit records they would have paraded them on TV and on the cover of NotW........but because he was probably a faceless bruiser......and the family were probably poor........the Police ignored their plight and turned a blind eye.

Even when the Police KNOW incest or rape is taking place they say they CANT DO ANYTHING about it unless the victim complains........and fear stops them complaining. That is the reason why it continued to happen.

Of course politicians like to jump onto media sensationalism.Just shows how far they'll go to get publicity.
What we so easily forget is that if you go back 100+ years this was a quite common event.In those days we tended to turn a blind eye to it.Now it sells papers,so we get it stuffed down our throats over breakfast!
True about Joe Blogs not interesting the police.Ever since crimewatch started they went the same way as the catering profession...and fell for the glamour of the media,rather that concentrating on the actual job we pay them for.
