Jean Charles verdict; the police are liars 15 Years, 4 Months ago
Seems to be generally dawning on ordinary people.

When their behaviour is scrutinised, the appalling morality flinches in the spotlight.

I do like the police excuse; the poor little didumms were stressed.

Bollocks. The only reason they come into the armed squad is to get the excitement of killing someone legally. Doesn't happen often. Red alert. So exciting cowboys.

But they were stressed of course, like those poor Gestapo officers beset by marauding Jews...

No one can ever believe a word the Police say again. ( A famous quote from the Blair/Brown book of arguments )

Sad day for the UK.

The truth about the Police is that "they make up stories"

Funny that - who would have thought it.........?

I'm sure that, had the Coroner not taken the option of 'unlawful killing', off the table, that it would have been the verdict.

It is a damning indictment of the police behaviour - when will the general public start to see what's before their eyes. The police are as fallible as all others parts of society - they are not, and should not, be above the law.

exactly mickey- that for meis the most shocking thing about this. What on earth does "open verdict" mean in a case where it is clear what happened?

This is a terrible tragedy and a judicial farce.

A man, pumped up by adrenaline, fires seven... seven... bullets into the head of a pefectly innocent man as he is held down by his mates, killing him and traumatising those around him. Should be an open and shut case. These guys, it is apparent, ARE actually currently above the law. One can only hope for justice at the High Court. But I'm not holding my breath. This should be seen as what it actually is. A frenzied attack. Nothing less.

an absolutely superb edition of Any Answers on BBC Radio 4. Almost all the calls were frompeople outraged at the de Menezes case, making very good points (apart from the stupid man who said that if de Menezes hadn't overstayed his visa, he wouldn't have been shot- what an idiot.)

The programme was superbly compered by Richard Dimbleby.

It should be on the Radio 4 listen again feature from about 3.30pm.

Highly recommended.

Not Richard I think David (though I did know him)... long since dead and gone; probably one of his sons, both of whom were at Charterhouse with me; I suspect Jonathan who sat in the next desk at History when I was Kenneth!
