The "TWO DAVIDS" Doctor Who 15 Years, 4 Months ago
Anyone else excited by David Tennant and The other David appearing together in DOCTOR WHO !!! on Christmas Day.

I loved their amazing performances in BLACKPOOL and the trailer already shows that it should be one of the best ever CHRISTMAS episodes.

One thing the BBC does well is DOCTOR WHO and MERLIN.

No! I'm NOT remotely excited by it at all. Can't stand David Tennant - sick of the sight of that guy - and I intensely dislike RTD's production, so I will be pressing the OFF switch and do something more interesting instead!

David Morrisey certainly looks the part, but the fact the episode is written by Russel T Davies stops me from being overly excited. I'm more looking forward to the Stephen Moffat era. David Morrisey says that he'd accept the invitation to play the next Doctor, but he hasn't been approached yet.

The Doctor is expected to be older, and the next series slightly darker, with plans to bring back the Time Lords.

There's a hefty anti Russell T element on our boards BR but I'm a huge, huge fan; though I really don't like Tennant as an actor and thought Russell's Dr Who episodes were superb despite Tennant.

However I shall indeed be glued to the Xmas special.

Everyone to their own taste. I find the writing by Russell T and Moffat is excellent. I have found the regeneration of the series to be exciting and in terms of risk taking it has tried to break new ground - sometimes succeeding and sometimes not quite hitting the mark.

Tennant is probably the biggest box office of any UK actor at present. I can understand how he can get on some people's nerves - but I quite like him and when he is together with the other David I think they play off each other very well.

Therefore I would expect the Christmas Special to be one of the best Doctor Who episodes ever......and if you decide to switch off then you will be missing out on a potential classic. If it is rubbish you can always switch over after 10 minutes.....cant see how you will know until you have watched it !!! Go on get some Christmas spirit for Russell and David(s)!!

A fair point since of course I haven't seen it so am in no position to judge it, nor will I be because I won't be watching it. I watched the first 6 episodes of Eccleston... the Dalek episode angered and disgusted me so much I couldn't watch the rest of that series.

I gave Tennant several chances but felt he couldn't even act and made Jon Pertwee look Shakespearian. Credit where its due to Russell T... he has overseen a phenomenon but like almost all modern day TV, I cannot stand it. I think Davies introduced a soap opera element that was totally unnecessary and please don't get me started on the romance elements. People LOVE that and that's fine... I just dislike it.

It probably is one of the finest TV shows around today but it is not to my taste and the chances I've given it have just annoyed, angered and insulted me as opposed to entertaining me. So, I avoid it. No point in watching something I don't like. I will certainly watch the first Moffat produced episodes - with thankfully, a new Doctor - and see what I think of what he brings to the show.

It's why I rarely ever go to the Cinema these days. 9 out of 10 times I hated the film and at the end I'd be sat there wishing I could have my money back and the time I wasted watching it!

Cant wait for the new Doctor. Tennants mockney accent combined with hammed over acting is terribly irritating.

How about Jonathan King for the next Doctor? A whole new range of monsters? The police, the judiciary, an entire army of Fleet Street journalists....they'd make the Daleks look like darling lambs. Murdoch as the new Davros...?? The possibilities are endless.

Murdoch as Davros? Probably too much like the real thing. However, I have to commend you on your powers of observation. And I have to say I'm surprised that no one {myself included} has spotted that before...

The next Doctor? 15 Years, 4 Months ago
Hotly tipped to be the next Doctor is Patterson Joseph. In the "real" world of Doctor Who, as opposed to the RTD deviation, there are no black Timelords. This isn't racism, it's just that there is only one race of Timelords. They do not change colour or sex when regenerating. That said, they did introduce a black Vulcan in Star Trek Voyager.

Second favourite in November was David Morrisey. It might be that the Christmas episode is a way of testing his popularity with Who fans. If he goes down well he may indeed be given the part for 2010

Russel Tovey has been tipped as a younger Doctor, but I personally don't think he's a strong enough actor. If a younger acted is chosen it should be either Luke Ward Wilkinson or Thomas Sangster.

Sean Pertwee is certainly worth consideration. He is a competent actor, although some older fans might be always comparing him with his father Jon and he may need to work extra hard to put his own unique stamp on the character.

My own choice would be James Aubrey, but I doubt he'll even be considered.
