Here I pay tribute to one of the most entertaining and informative weathermen in the history of TV. Bob Johnson presents his final weather forecast tonight at around 6.25pm on ITV North East (Tyne Tees). I shall miss his wit and style. He always jumbled one of the places name son the weather map, and he gave us a trip round a local village each night as a "guess where this is" feature. From tonight there will be no more "Skitey bits" or "Nithering winds" mentioned in the forecast.
Bob Johnson has been unique. I found myself tuning into the local ITV news just in time to see his forecast. It was never boring with Bob and, no matter how miserable the news bulletins were, he would appear to raise a smile.
I wish him a happy and restful retirement.
