Sprouts - food post. 15 Years, 4 Months ago
As a kind of seasonal food post, I admit that I like sprouts with my Christmas dinner. I know a few people who hate them, but I also note that several tend to either use frozen ones (yuk) or overcook them. For the perfect sprout, imo, they should be boiled for no more than 10 minutes so that they are crisp and sweet and still a darker green. If they are pale and mushy they are overcooked and horrible.

I enjoyed watching Christmas at River Cottage on Channel 4, where they played with different recipes for sprouts (among other dishes). It's repeated at 5.10pm tomorrow (Sunday) - Channel 4 again - if anyone missed it and is interested.

I think it's also on More 4 on Christmas Eve.

All hail to the Mighty Sprout !!

I love sprouts - one of my favourite vegetables, and so does my brother, but my Mum hated them. I had to force her to eat two tiny ones as a gesture each Christmas!

oops I clicked too quickly

I meant to say... I love the bitter taste and the texture when you bite into a perfectly cooked sprout

Its the reverse here... my Mum forces me to eat several sprouts every Christmas.

Absolutely hate the things... ruined too many meals for comfort. The taste makes me feel sick.
