Our "cutting off random posts in mid word" seems a minor problem compared to others - the Record of the Day has been offline for ages (judging by the E-Mails I'm getting from people who find the Tip Sheet board more interesting anyway) and the "long tail" theory has been shown to be false (the vast majority of tracks available online haven't sold a single copy - quite right too, but it tends to disprove the theory).

Add to that our own site hiccups - suggested due to extreme popularity but none of our sites seem more popular than usual although Vile Pervert: The Musical has increased hugely over the last week thanks to Madame Arcati choosing it as the Best Film of 2008 - several hundred full length views/downloads a day at present.

I suspect, like retail, internet has reached spontaneous combustion time.

Last week much of Africa and Asia got cut off from Europe because important internet cables under the sea ended up getting cut so the net has been "strangled"... tons of traffic is only coming through one cable and it's had a knock on effect, affecting almost everybody.

Repairs are now taking place, so I'd expect some more blackouts until the problem is fixed.

I've noticed many sites experiencing difficulties for a long time now, so it can't just be due to something that happened last week. Some sites have been going down for a few days at a time, some longer.

I think even the internet must have it's limits.

I think, actually, I started a thread on this forum about it 3 or 4 months ago, although I can't recall anyone responding to it. Then again, I might have posted it on another site. Age rots the memory.
