Just went to see it - it's too long by about 30 minutes - a 70% film but the last ten minutes are spectacular, some of the best I've ever seen, and do not miss the closing credits which are superb.

The girl playing the romantic lead is absolutely gorgeous.

Camerawork will win an Oscar.

I don't know why we are glorifying India, they are the cause of all this countries woes. Not only do they come over here and take our jobs but now we send our jobs over there for them, via outsourcing, thus to a deprssion in our wages and thus a recession. The only people that benefit are fat cat bosses and the indian workers.

Why can't British film makers make films about Britain like Shane Meadows and the excellent 'This is England'. I don't want to see a film in Hindi and how the greedy indians are destroying the planet.

By the way, Amil Kapoor is superb in it.

I've been getting quite into Indian culture over the past 15 years (I haven't been there since 1989).. Arundhati Roy's fabulous God of Small Things (either won the Booker or came close) followed by several other novels (though I cannot stand Rushdie).

The Booker winner last year, The White Tiger, is well worth reading but my favourite was a losing finalist the year before - Animal's People; a definite film potential.

More on Slumdog - see if you agree - I really wasn't keen on Dev thingy, who I thought was surly and one dimensional, but the very young Jamal is superb, as is the teenage Salim (especially when he turns bad).

The girl is stunning but really doesn't have much acting to do. It's quite enough for her just to be there on screen, she is so utterly gorgeous.

As I've said, Amil Kapoor is magnificent.

And I cannot praise the camerawork highly enough. Also the music is great.

Whatever you do, stay until the very end; don't miss a frame of the wonderful closing credits.
