So I come out of the cinema... 15 Years, 4 Months ago
do some grocery shopping, walk back and SPLAT!
Over on a slippery pavement straight onto my nose which is surely broken, shattered, bruised and cut open.
Blood everywhere. Shopping scattered.

A delightful Egyptian gentleman - probably 70 - rushed over, helped me up and insisted on carrying my stuff back for me. Sweetheart. Every cloud has a silver lining. At their best human beings are wonderful.

So I now look like Rocky after he lost.

Bed, aspirin, hot drink, feeling sorry for myself....

That'll teach me to enjoy 3 weeks on holiday.

By the way, is it one of the few certainties that one will always have bought EGGS before an accident like this (all of which will, of course, smash)?

Awww, you'll live JK! Now then, was it a simple accident, or were the council negligent? Even if it was a simple accident, the ambulance-chasing brigade would encourage you to sue them!
There are plenty of decent people in the world, but the evil minority all too often shout loudest and find themselves in positions of authority.

Sadly a total accident Marcus - in fact I was thinking how good it was for the council to have sanded the slippery crossings so old people didn't fall when whoops - smash - down I went.

I don't feel too bad this morning though I fear my striking good looks may be permanently blemished.

Thank God I've still got my gorgeous personality.

I'm glad you don't feel too bad today. Quite often the morning after can be the worst time. Some hot tea, some cool music and a cozy arm chair in front of a warm fire can work wonders.

I boiled up the carcass of the chicken I roasted Thursday night (before the Friday accident) for hours and days; added chunks of potato and whole mushrooms; some salt and pepper, a knob of butter and there was my invalid Sunday lunch. Chicken soup Plus.

I'm feeling better already.

I'm Not A Celebrity Shover

Jokes aside I think it's quite fascinating that you fell in the street with bags of shopping.

I assumed you had a chauffer come butler to do all that. Surely you lived the life of a 'rock star' when you were younger?

It's just that I can't imagine Mick Jagger falling on his way back from Sainsbury's laden with groceries.

That's all.

I am actually seeing my doctor today David but there's not a lot they can do. My breathing is fine (the main thing I suspect), my eyes will slowly turn from purple to yellow to, hopefully, normal again, my nose will probably settle back to the delicious shape it always was...

Could have been so much worse.

Well my doctor was remarkably impressed by the state of me and says I'm healing magnificently.

Thatīs natural: even if you may have felt miserable you took it easy. Everyone posesses self - healing powers. For further reading I recommend this book -saw it in the bookcase of a Voodoo Priestess in New Orleans.

Funnily enough the one thing I swear by is WITCH HAZEL.

I'm not even sure what it is but dabbed on cuts it soothes, protects from infection, cleans (I believe)...

I dabbed my wounds with it and put a pad of cotton wool soaked in it under the band aid and it did work wonders (as usual).

I think it also helps bruising. It seems to pull out poison.

For example, slamming a thumb in a door (always loses the nail), witch hazel immediately soothes it and often saves the nail.

Anyone else a witch hazel fan?

My doctor looked a bit bemused but admitted the results were spectacular.

Anyway, hope you are feeling better soon.

Witch Hazel is amazing, I used it a few weeks ago to get rid of an awful spot on my cheek and it went within a couple of days.

amazing how GPs disregard natural remedies.

I had a stinking cold in Budapest over Xmas amd was with a Japanese friend who told me what I needed was lavender oil

I let hep apply some under my ears where the lymph nodes are, as well as at the top of my chest.

Amazing, about 20 minutes later I felt so much better- I was amazed, the whole thing lifted- the aching, the blocked nose etc

Hope you continue to feel better JK
