Ken returns 15 Years, 3 Months ago
Good thing too; with him and Hague, Cameron's team is looking rather good.

William Hague looks a statesman now; he didn't 10 years ago.

Didn't the appointment of Sir Menzies Campbell and Michael Howard confirm that having "Old Duffers" in a prominent position in a party is a sure-fire vote loser.

Old duffers? Ken's different though - he's a Tory Grandee and has much more character than Ming. He was unlike the normal Tory corporate smoothie when Chauncellor. I remember his love of beer, cigars, wearing pissed-stained brown hush puppies with a pinstripe suit and the fact he drove a tatty Escort XR3i instead of a Jaguar.

A welcome return for Ken.
I may disagree with him on europe, but he's the best public persona the tories have.
Old faces are often trusted more, just compare how much better the tories did under Howard in 2005 than in the previous 2 elections.
Hague was a disaster as leader, but is coming back with a vengance...I'm not enamoured with any party at present...but my vote will probally go tory this time...and having Ken back has helped that choice.

Do you still have a vote now that you live abroad?

I think Howard only did so well because Blair's bubble was beginning to burst. Labour only won due to the Scottish vote, but I wouls have emigrated if Howard had become PM. A horrible evil man who first set the wheels of the current opporession in motion. He even attempted to abolish the right to silence. Needless to say he did not get my vote.

I like Ken, although I too disagree with him on Europe. He would have been a much better leader than Cameron. He did say that, in his opinion, the European treaty was dead once Ireland had voted no.
