TOPIC: Banks

Banks 15 Years, 3 Months ago
Well, ages ago I thought it was extraordinary that banks seemed to be lending to people (mainly in America) who could never repay the mortgages.

It struck me as mad but, as you know, I think the entire philosophy of spending money you do not have is insane.

Just as I simply could not understand invading a country (Iraq) without having a plan in place for water, electricity and media/communications.

These are such basic building blocks of society that ignoring them all is simply barmy.

Given that barminess and coupled with the (to me) incomprehensible situation of claims without evidence leading to a seven year jail sentence, I've sort of given up all hope for humanity.

I genuinely believe we cannot survive much longer as a species.

RBS has lost BILLIONS ( £30Billion at least )

So what does BROWN do - he pours in OUR tax money to this failed and failing business and tries to prop it up.

Well shares have gone down to 10p each and they are likely to be worthless by tomorrow night.

The banks is bust. It is now a front for the UK Government. Our money is holding up this once great institution. It has gone.

The way in which this has happened is totally crazy. How BROWN as chancellor has allowed the banks to behave in this way is beyond me. BROWN basically has been so EXCITED to get rid of BLAIR that he did not run the ecomomy properly from 2001. He concentrated on his own POSITION.

Now the UK Is basically going down the pan - other banks are now rocking as well.

We are in MELTDOWN - and this second wave of trouble could actually bankrupt the UK plc. How many more pounds is BROWN going to print to underwrite these bankrupt banks ? The pound could plummet if he decides to do this.

The World Economy is close to total collapse - at which point MONEY will become worthless. So as I suggested before - put your money into mixed investments - grab some GOLD or SILVER and some LAND rather than pile up riches on some balance sheet because that could become worthless.

Anyone with alot of money should consider buying a FARM with a smallholding - that at least could mean you have food on your table in the times to come.

Get a grip,it's not that bad. Were basically talking ourselves into recession and its all about confidence. Nothing has really happened since a year ago when everything was fine-ish. There has been no war, no natural disasters. Everytone just needs to calm down and carry on as usual

Well the collapsing pound... my three weeks in Morocco; the pound is worth far less compared to the dirham. Fortunately I used my Dollar account and saved two thousand pounds on the cost of the holiday.

I'm half expecting the next move will be Gordon & Alistair giving £15K in newly minted cash to anyone who earns less than 30K per annum, and ordering them to go out and fill their boots, buy themselves widescreen telly's, shit "eco-friendly" new cars & poor quality sofa's etc - anybody trying to use the windfall to pay their debts will be jailed - in order to keep this economy of sand going a few more months

Hi Chris;

I believe that is not too far fetched a theory.
In practice, then the banks and government increase charges and interest rates and claw some money back for a bit, from borrowers, which it turn puts more sand into the egg timer.
