Only if you are referring to the poor sap who cleans the toilets after the game.

Maddox had an interesting argument regarding immigrants and I agree with him on this:

www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=walmart

If someone from another country is willing to do a better job for the same money then he deserves the job more. As Britons we need to realise that we don't deserve any more than any one else on this planet and we have no god given right for a bigger slice of the pie. If you want more then you have to work hard for it.

Allowing discrimination of any form into the job selection criteria is just plain wrong. I find it terrible that people in their fifties or sixties are discriminated against because they might retire. Employ a younger person, they will probably just quit after a year or two or move on into another role anyway. people don't tend to stick with the same company for years and years, and even if you do, you aren't rewarded for it. If you employ the older guy - he will probably stay with you until retirement - that could be 2 years, or 10!

They are talking about a British Quota in a match day squad.

Probably 5 out of 20 players in the league.

The Premier League is now the World Club League ( even though they dont call it that ) and European Competitions show the advantage the clubs have. As far as I can see nearly every country in the World has it beamed via Satellite and Cable into their homes. That is why the TV rights are so expensive and why the clubs can buy any player they want in the World.

It is probably the first Global sport based in one country.

TV schedules dictate when games are played these days and fans are "extras" for a World audience.

The heart has gone out of the Premier League - but it is a spectacle.

Most immigrants aren't doing a better job for the same money. Most of them are doing a worse job for less money. That is why they are taken on. They are undercutting the job market and depressing wages. The working classes are the ones affected not the middle classes who own the means of employment. Polish people often come here for a few years and earn a few thousand, which is worth much more in Poland. British people just can't cope on their wages when they have mortgages and families to support. Many immigrants even claim family allowance for their children in Poland. It is pure greed. Don't try and tell me that Indian workers make better call centre staff, most of them are difficult too understand. Are these racist views? No, I'm just delivering facts.

That argument is true in times of relatively full employment, or if the entire world had a similar cost of living. It falls down a tad in the current climate where people can come from abroad, live a frugal lifestyle on the minimum wage or less, then take the surplus home where it can buy ten times more than it could buy here.

I believe in LOCAL.

I believe that in times of recession local jobs for local people ( regardless of race )

This is the fairest way to help local areas through a recession.

It also is the GREENEST way.

Commuting long distances is the single biggest cause of pollution and use of energy ( with little end product ) in the UK and World.

We need to see Globalisation as a bad thing in the sense that we can grow vegetable in the UK - yet we help destroy the planet by importing them thousands of miles due to our greed in wanting them all year round.

It is greed that has destroyed jobs. Those who travel abroad in order to make "More" money are mercenaries. They are greedy ( regardless of race - and I count UK people who travel abroad in the same way )

We need to start to think sustainably and locally so that the World can survive.

The employment that doesn't get discussed often is the situation they have in the fens. Migrant workers get accommodation as part of their work contract and have their salary deducted as a result. Often this can be 6 to a caravan and they then "take home" £100 per week app.

Obviously employers can't get away with that for local people as they tend to already have accommodation.

My evidence is what I see in my daily life. Call centres where you can't understand a word they say. software code that is unreadable and the work of a disconnected workforce. Its funny how the amount of unemployed has suddenlty gone up, almost exactly by the amount of polish immigrants coming to this country.

My experience of Polish workers in my trade was positive. Hard working and got on with it. One such person used the opportunity to learn new skills and then take those skills home with him after a year or two here so that he could be more productive and better paid in his own country. Anyone who is willing to sacrifice precious time away from their family and loved ones to better oneself and ones future deserves a break. Yes there are bad examples and bad employers who abuse the situation, but in honesty do you want to work for such employers anyway?
