What is shocking is that although it was found to be fabricated this poor man has not had his conviction squashed ( for common assault ) and has not worked since 2002 because of the allegation.

It is time that anyone making a false allegation is treated as an abuser.

We need to see even handed justice.

Then it would deter those who fabricate stories for revenge.

A real victim would probably go through with a Case because they knew it was the truth.

It shows that the Police MAKE UP allegations as well and force people to plead guilty to things they have not done.

This was shown by that amazing BBC drama about the Justice System.

Our country is going down the pan at a fast rate.

There is basically a national strike taking place this week - under the excuse of snow !! because most people are too disillusioned to make any effort to travel to work.

We need an election.

That is Great Britain this century; touch a girl's chin and never work again.

In 1990 the BBC made a drama called The Police in which a group of school kids set up their own police force which resulted in them locking up their headmaster, blindfolding him and taking suggestive photos. The lead boy told the rest that he was going to let him go but instead he left the headmaster locked up gave him some of the photos before walking away. The headmaster was found hanged with the photos by his side. When the police came to the school to question the pupils, the lead boy gave them a few lies about how the headmaster had shown him porn and abused him. The police and the other staff members believed the boy because he was so convincing.

A drama unashamedly about false allegations against an innocent man, not shying from the idea that children can lie about such things.

I remember thinking at the time that I wouldn't be surprised if that sort of thing happened one day. I didn't realise that it already was happening, and that things were going to get even worse.

you bring up an important aspect that is overlooked in all of this..and is only pointed out this time because he was innocent...and that is the extraordinary devestation caused in a person's life when faced with allegations that end up in the courts (any type).

Financially a person will be ruined..even on legal aid-they are prevented from making a living if they receive any sort of sensational press.

It's always forgotten-the majority of accused have families as well. A wife and children who are all innocent of anything except being related but they basically pay the price as well.

Whenever I hear a moralising rant about an accused (or even guilty) from the police , the media or the general public-I query their motives.

A long life has taught me that those who point the finger first and take a high moral tone have something to hide themselves and it's been shown to be true over and over again.

The media has shown it's irresponsibilty in reporting on court matters-they need to be curtailed.

These fabrications actually weaken the genuine victims' cases.

Until the Justice System finds a way to deal with them then there is no justice for all.

Innuendo and allegations seem to be enough to ruin peoples' lives and that is wrong.

It is a Justice System based on Witch Hunts - except in 2009 the Witchs are called Terrorists or Abusers or in the case of football players violent offenders.

Every week another famous person is arrested whilst a further 100 others are probably arrested on the "allegation" with no evidence from someone with a grudge or a desire for compensation.

This needs to be dealt with soon. The system is unravelling.
