For me, having now seen all except Benjamin Button (I hated Forest Gump so cannot drag myself to it) -
Best Film - should be The Reader - will be Slumdog.
Best Actor - should and probably will be Frank Langella (though David Kross deserves it).
Best Actress - should and will be Meryl Streep though Kate is terrific. Streep should get it for Doubt AND Mamma Mia (in my opinion the best film of 2008).
Best Director - Stephen Daldry for Reader but will be Danny Boyle - still pretty deserved.
Best Cinematography and Music - Slumdog, both well deserved.
Best Supporting Actress - Viola Davis in Doubt. (one of the single best film scenes I've ever watched).
Best Supporting Actor - should be Hoffman; will be Ledger
Costume - Milk which deserves more than one and Penn is great in it.
Song - Wall-E (I'm biased; it's by my protege Peter Gabriel).
Writing (adapted) Doubt by a mile.
Original - Milk.

Roll on the Oscars. 22nd Feb.
