I know im late with this one but ive been on the Pride of Bilbao in the stormy Bay of Biscay(NOT recomended). I took the Guardian weekend to while away the time and read the marvellous article by Nicholas Blincoe on his year under siege by the children of the estate where he lives.Children who demand respect whilst giving none, and certainly not to an adult. Children that can do what they like to who they like and get away with it by counter accusation. If you missed it it is well worth a look. You can find it on the Guardians website.

It's still a fault of society and politicians and the decimation of huge industries. Remember-many of Britain's estates, communities grew up around one industry, coal, factories etc and from generation to generation it held large sections of a populace together like a glue.

Remove that and replace it with nought and the whole community falls apart..toss in drugs, unemployment for 2 or 3 generations and the end result..nasty little brutes telling you to "fork

I also thought this was a fantastic article and removes the stigma that "children all tell the truth" and other barmy concepts.
