Cannabis 15 Years, 3 Months ago
Interesting article in The Times by Mark Porter.
Most of my false accusers had either heavy histories of drug abuse from an early age - some were diagnosed fully paranoid schizophrenic - or severe alcohol dependency.

Yes then they claim you caused them to get into drugs when they were on it years before you met them.
Cunning and devious in search of reward.

one of the great mysteries of life..

those who claim they were abused and are also drug addicts or alcoholic blame it on the abuse and receive extraordinary sympathy from authorities and the media.

Those who are arrested for a crime and are drug addicted or alcoholic are accused by the same as being vile junkies and worthless drunks scrounging off the system and using their weaknesses as an excuse !

That defence trick is failing these days - it's been pulled too many times; evidence is produced that false accusers were using before any claimed abuse period, doctors and experts now point to definite proof of the effects of cannabis on personalities, numerous precedents have been granted and it's become a failed excuse.

Did you see the Horizon programe re cannabis? 15 Years, 3 Months ago
It blew a lot of the 'facts' presented by the Times (and the Government) out of the water.

I have a sneaking suspicion we may have to agree to disagree on cannabis, Pete!

while I wouldn't argue about the effects of drugs I believe they should all be legalised and quality controlled with proper education as to what each one does to a person.

You simply cannot control what a person does to their own body..you can only try to.(just as you won't stop 12 year olds bonking)

The ilicit drug business is the biggest criminal enterprise in the world-tackling it costs us billions for little return and is a huge waste of resources.

I's the greatest cause of crime-it kills more people every year than have ever died from terrorism.

We all pay a fortune because of it via wasted taxes and boosted insurance policies-I've had 2 burglaries and 3 cars stolen because of junkies. A hit of smack that sells on the streets costs a cent to manufacture.

Britain had an excellent service in the early 1960's providing heroin to addicts at no cost at clinics with regular health check-ups. It worked well for 5 years with no increase in addict numbers.

And then the tabloids discovered a good story....

The Lancet (respected medical journal) reports a 40% increase in the risk of schizophrenia if cannabis used.

One of my false accusers was a paranoid schizophrenic.

I have no doubt that drugs-and mariujana can have weird effects upon people-otherwise why take them ?

I used to drop LSD at age 18 to 20 on a regular basis, given to me by my flatmate-the head pychiatrist at a major hospital. We often tripped together on weekends plus we popped purple heart pills he brought home by the box full. I had a great time.

I gave up after one smoke of marijuana..I had a terrible attack of paranoia and never took another (ilicit)drug. It was the most terrifying experience in my life. Significantly-my flatmate, regarded as one of the country's most gifted shrinks committed suicide. He was addicted to speed.

I have many friends who smoke dope-some are fine-some are psychotic messes.

I doubt any could be trusted giving evidence in court.

You have to be a be a continually heavy user to experience those kind of side effects. Most users are only casual, social smokers. The fact is that the rule you quoted only applies to the small minority. The Government were warned about the true facts but decided not to listen to the specialists and had the drug re-classed. Silly really.

Cannabis only affects in a negative way in high, regular doses. This does not affect the average social, recreational user. Another load of sensationalised tosh from the media.

I go for neither the Daily Mail horror stories nor the uninformed "less harmful than ciggies" brigade.

That's why I respect articles in places like the Lancet.

I used to enjoy a good spliff but haven't taken Cannibis for nearly ten years now. I don't miss it, don't need it and have other things to take place in my life!

you are right there..any drug can be taken in moderation. Aspirin can kill you in the right doses.

I'm positive marijuana being a psychotropic drug -in large and continued doses screws the mind.

In fact-I believe it is more harmful than heroin. Sadly we are told so many lies by authorities about drugs.
