Oh gawd...I can imagine then now on GMTV, after mummy's gone up to heaven to frolick with the little angels, with the simpering Fiona Phillips telling them 'how bwave they are and how the whole countwy loves them and is thinking about them...and I bet the florists are looking forward to it...lots of cash courteosy of Sun reading chavettes purchasing lots of cellophane wrapped flowers.

To be fair, she must have something that allowed her to become successful when the vast majority of big brother contestants go onto obscurity. Maybe, its because she is unintentionally funny (e.g. thinking chick peas come from chickens). Maybe its the triumph of ordinariness. She represents every not too pretty working class girl living in a council estate. Also for the record Jade isn't an Essex girl, shes from Bermondsey, South London.

Why the vitriol toward her?

I don't actually care about her one way or the other but feel this attitude reflects poorly on the people making such uncharitable negative comments.

I disagree with the original post here. Jade is an admirable woman who is doing her best to raise money so that her children can have a decent education.

I don't disagree with you Hamlet (despite your familiar IP number). And I feel equal sympathy for the other women and men who are dying without being able to raise money for the same reason. And I hope you're right and her courageous efforts - making the most of a bad situation - will be used as you suggest and that the kids will grow up wiser, better educated and full of thanks and love for their mum.

But I remain cynical about the media, Max and the public.

To be fair on Max he does in this case seem to be doing his best to help Jade & present her in a positive way to the public. I'm not a fan of the man in general mind.

I hate reality TV - but even I have to admit when JADE appeared on Big Brother I actually tuned in to watch some of it.

She is a star. Like all stars she has an X Factor which cant be determined or even found by people like Simon Cowell !!

I think the media have used her and abused her - taking advantage of the obvious fact that she is a "heart on her sleeve" ordinary girl who has had a love for life which shames many other people. She has spoken her mind and her thoughts - she has been herself. One of the few people on TV who have been genuinely real.

We all admire her really - even to the extent the Government has intervened in her wedding with both commemt and law change. Plus the head of the Catholic Church.

She was the opposite to Princess Diana in terms of privelege and wealth - but in the same way she has captivated everyone from Sun readers and Chavs to those in politics and religion.

Perhaps her early demise is in keeping with those who burn brightly in this life - perhaps that comes with the territory.......most of us live lives that plod on and we dont command front page after front page year after year......but she certainly does.

I hope her children do well in future - they are losing the most important person in their lives and no amount of money can ever make up for that.

while I don't mind Jade making every penny she can for her kids-I'd do likewise-the whole case is a great example of the media and "celebrity" today which is almost canabalistic in manner and in danger of disappearing up it's own arse

JK's original assesment is correct -fortunate for Jade-but not only has the US picked up the tale, the Aussie newspapers are onto it as well.

That includes the once great Fairfax chain-Murdoch's only rivals and publishers of The Age-150 years old and considered (once) one of the great newspapers of the world.

In their efforts to compete with Murdoch's tabloids, they have been going down market for years with circulation figures plunging at the same time-managers and editors unable to understand why their more "educated" readers are not interestd in the woes of an ex-Big Brother contestant (particularly as the show died a death here)of whom they have no knowledge of and are perplexed why it's a front page story.

Not to be outdone-Max's Aussie clone Max Markson (from Stepney via a saucepan stall at Shepherd's Bush)has reverted to type and announced he is to bring George Bush Jnr to Oz and diners can hear him "speak" for a $1K per head.

He previously brought George Bush Snr for a successful visit although Max's partner in that tour is currently serving time for a massive fraud after amassing $80M from the local Assyrian community,so impressed by his Bush Snr connection they invested in the usual high interest rate scam con.

Then came Bill Clinton who at least can actually entertain and put together a coherant sentence.

His Rudolph Guliani tour was a flop but the most controversial- Cherie Blair "charity" tour promoting her book whilst her hubby was PM with a scandal about how much the charity was actually geting.

Yours truly was bustled away from her table at one function when I approached and asked her if she may consider donating the profits of her book to the Iraqi children who had survived her husband's invasion of their land.

You forgot to mention that she broke new ground by having a sexual encounter on a British reality tv programme. Then again, who cares? The poor girls dying (some on here would disagree) why stick the knife in now??

You people who are taking it out on Jade, are just jealous. She is one of those who has gone from rags to riches, and you can't change that. That's what happens when you go on Big Brother. Yes, she swore at Shipla, but, so what, they are under a lot of strain locked in there for so many weeks, seeing the same people everyday. What would've happened if it was the other way round...yes...nothing! Also, Jack regrets deeply what he has done in the past, and I can't see him doing anything like that again.

Yes, Jack has made mistakes, but no-one deserves to lose their wife, to cervical cancer. I watched Jade's wedding last night, and I was in tears because in every scene, her children were involved. How would you feel having to tell your 2 yound children that you are going to die?

Her family and friends are going to miss her terribly. Why shouldn't she have had the life she's had? Give them a break!

Nobody is knocking Jade.
Everyone feels sympathy for someone who is dying.
Everyone feels sad for those left behind, especially children.

But many feel revulsion at the commercialisation of death. At media and PR pretending sympathy when all they really want is ratings and cash and profit.

At catering to the lowest common denominator ("show us death!") whilst pretending to "do good".

That is what offends.

I think most of us just turn the page or switch channels.

Let's not make any mistakes


Jade Goody is a thoroughly nasty individual made famous because she is what she is. The disgusting bullying on first Big Brother and then, when she was already a millionaire, celebrity Big Brother only showed her up for what she is. Those outbursts at Shilpa Shetty were completely disgusting. She's a total bitch and a bully who rsorts to screaming and intimidating people and using others to back her up to victimise others. Jack Tweed has only married her to avoid being kept in prison and/or being sent down again for current court cases. He's a nasty vicious thug. She's a vile natured, foul mouthed bully so really they're made for each other.

It's very sad that she now has terminal cancer but it's even sadder for the children of other dying mums who aren't able to promote themselves and provide for their future.

Terminal illness has no more changed my mind about Jade Goody than it did about Myra Hindley and I believe this will do no more for cancer sufferers than Princess Diana has done for rear seat belts.

Those children in years to come will think what their mother is/was is some kind of idol and that's very sad.

I'm sure many of us feel this is being milked for the sympathy vote.The cancer and the children's suffering are indeed a terrible thought.But it's the way Max Clifford is manipulating the whole thing that leaves a vile taste in the mouth.

It's a great song. Unfortunately, as you say, most leaving the comments seem to be blind and deaf, not actually realising this song is actually on Jade's side and attacking the real villains - Clifford and the meejah.
