Wendy Richard RIP 15 Years, 2 Months ago
Wendy Richard has sadly lost her battle with cancer today and died at the age of 65.
I prefer to remember as the dippy, but loveable Miss Brahms in "Are you being Served" and playing all those dolly birds in 70's movies like "Carry on Girls" and "Bless This House", rather than the grumpy Pauline Fowler in Eastenders.

This is very sad news especially to those of us old enough to remember Come Outside and Will I What?

Odd for Eastenders fans to know that she was the girl all the boys fancied in her Are You Being Served days - as indeed Barbara Windsor was for us Sparrers Can't Sing wrinklies!

And I cannot tell you how many people thought she sang lead on Johnny Reggae! She didn't.

I'm most saddened by this news though like robbiex, I too prefer to remember her for Miss Brahms as opposed to the ghastly Pauline Fowler. It is testament to her talents she did play Fowler so well that you just hated her!

Don't forget JK, it was Billie Davis who did "Will I What?" with Mike Sarne... not Wendy, but Billie was obviously under orders to ape Wendy so it would repeat the formula of "Come Outside". Wendy's contributions to that song never fail to make me smile... especially the way she yells "Give Over!"

She will be missed. In a way it's like losing a member of the family because for as long as I've been around, Wendy was always to be found somewhere on TV.

I adored her in Are You Being Served. I wish she had never done Eastenders - it was beneath her.

Very sad day - and Come Outside was an awesome record.

Not Miss Posta on Johnny Reggae, Andrew (though I did go out with her a couple of times) but Barbara Kay, a session singer.

Excellent tribute programme on BBC 1 earlier tonight - worth seeing on I Player if you missed it.

She was so lovely prior to the toughest years from the 90s onwards.

A real star - and someone who will be much missed. My childhood was better because of having her on my TV.

so sad..you just know Wendy was one of those very lovely people with not a bad bone in her body and one who left us with lovely memories of her work (I agree-despite it's sheer silliness I loved her and all those appeared in 'Are You Being Served"..repeats of the show still make me laugh.

But I see Wendy has sent the unfortune Jade a message of support.

Can't you just see it ?..Max intercepting Jade's post and ensuring every media outlet got a copy of the letter !

My blood boiled when I saw the front page of The Mirror yesterday. How dare Clifford use the death of a much loved icon to sneak in Jade. Proves he will stoop to any low level and hog any opportunity... that showed zero respect to Wendy Richard and cheapened the news.

As if we haven't suffered enough of Clifford lately constantly doing his "spokesman" bit for Jade whilst keeping one eye on his ever increasing bank balance.

Max Clifford is going to go to Hell where I hope he burns for all eternity.
