After the strange reffing this morning of the Man Utd v Liverpool game I have just been reading about a referee called SIMON HOOPER.

This referee has been described as the WORST REFEREE in ENGLAND - so I do suggest you all rush out and get to see him referee a game. Supposedly he cant distinguish between the two teams etc. So it could be a hilarious afternoon of entertainment.

If I can find out where he is reffing next I will post it up on here !!!!!

I've heard so many referees described as the worst in the country (or even the world). It's usually just heated opinionating after a game.

btw what was strange about the refereeing in the Man Utd v Liverpool game?

Two penalties leading to Man Utd losing so heavily at home when they put out their "strongest" side who are far superior than the Liverpool side.

I would expect that Man Utd will go on and win the league and not lose another game in the League this season.......

It just seemed convenient to keep the "Title Race" open.....an opportunist result to keep people interested....

There are some awful referees out there and outside of the Premier League I can assure you from personal experience they get very bad. Remember that lino who did not give the Tottenham goal when it was about 2 feet over the line at Old Trafford ? he is a League Referee and one of the better ones !! ( Rob Lewis )

Worst referee in the world? Stuart Atwell, take a bow!

I had the misfortune of watching him attempt to referee at Derby last year. I have been a football fan since watching the 1970 World Cup when I was 6, and nobody comes close to Atwell for ineptitude.

Liar, you were 26 in 1970 ! and if you're going to Derby to watch football, you deserve all you get !

How very dare you, Mike! I might look like I was born in the same year as JK, but I've had a very hard life. Very hard life supporting Derby mainly, so I probably do deserve all I get!

Indeed, and you still are of course, which must be why Mike thinks we are the same age.

Talking of the early 70s, I have JK's factfile from a disco 45 magazine in 1971 when he proclaims he wrote a novel as a very young child about a woman that had had several husbands and murdered them all.

That sounds like my kind of read.

BR, if you look at the penalties in the Man Utd v Liverpool game, and at the sending off, you'll see that the referee wasn't left with much choice. Man Utd lost because they didn't play well enough. They often don't play that well against teams which attack them because their defence do not cope well with pressure. Most teams give Man Utd too much respect and don't believe they can beat them. Liverpool had so much to lose that they went for it, and their determination paid off.

The refereeing in this game was first class and very fair. Even the Man Utd players and management have admitted such.

A few years ago York City beat Man Utd 3-0 at Old Trafford.

No conspiracy. Just a team with a will to win.
